ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

What’s next for your daughter / ward in the exciting world of Guiding?

Sparks : age 5 & 6
Is your daughter returning to Sparks?  If so she will continue to learn to share and to think of themselves as part of a bigger world.  Along the way she will make friendships that will last a lifetime.

Brownies: age 7 & 8
Girls are encouraged to gain an appreciation of different cultures and develop a commitment to their communities through service projects and special events. Brownies is also a chance for girls to gain confidence by learning skills that they can use in their daily lives; everything from safety and first aid skills to learning about the importance of a healthy life style is covered in the Brownie program.

Guides: age 9 - 11
Girls engage in their communities through service projects; they gain an understanding of the lives
of people in other countries, and begin to take a stand on issues that are important to them, such as the environment.

Pathfinders: age 12 - 14
The Pathfinder program is designed to offer choice and flexibility. Girls design and plan activities with the assistance of adult mentors. Pathfinders is programming by girls, for girls. The Pathfinder program also offers opportunities to travel internationally, particularly to the Guiding World Centres in England, Mexico, Switzerland and India.

Rangers: age 15 – 17
In Rangers, young women complete a core program that focuses on adventure and independence. Girls learn practical skills that help them as they begin their adult lives. At this level, adult Guiders really are there for support and guidance. The focus is on helping the girls achieve THEIR goals, and whatever it is they want to do. Trips, camps, service projects, co-ed activities are a few of the ways these girls are empowered to be strong, independent young women with the ability to achieve their dreams (whatever they may be), and to make a difference in the world.

Youth / Adult Members: 18 +
Volunteering with Girl Guides is a rewarding way to help girls and young women develop the best within themselves. Give a little, gain a lot. No matter how much time you have to give, there’s a place for you in Guiding – an organization that is for girls, by girls and all about girls.
