Adult Members are important role models for our girls and young women.
Therefore, it is important to maintain consistently high standards and values
in recruiting and screening potential members.
The overriding concern is the safety of the girls and integrity of the organization.
For the safety of the girls and adult Members,
all adult Members of the organization must obtain a police records check (PRC)
that meets GGC requirements every five years.
When a PRC is obtained, the following databases must be checked:
*Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database
A PRC is valid for five years in accordance with GGC's screening policy.
In order to obtain a PRC
you must visit your local police service
(regional police, RCMP detachment).
Please bring with you two pieces of government identification (one must be a photo).
For some police services, a letter from the organization is required.
Please contact ggcns@girlguides.ns.ca with your name
and which local police service/RCMP detachment
you need the letter sent to and we will fax this to them.
(for existing members renewing their PRC, we will send you this letter along
with a PRC renewal form 6 months prior to expiry.)

The cost is $25.00. Credit Card only accepted.
During the application process you will be asked information about your credit history
(i.e. car loans, student loans, etc.). This is not a credit check.
The information is requested simply to verify your identity with Equifax.
Those with little or no credit history may not be able to obtain a report from BackCheck.
It is important to realize that while you may request a refund when BackCheck
cannot provide you with a PRC, if you chose to cancel the check once the request has been made for Equifax to verify your identity you will not be able to receive a refund.
