Guiding is bold, fun, energetic and real!
Vision
Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada, the organization of choice for girls and woman,
makes a positive difference in the life of every girl and woman who experiences Guiding,
so she can contribute responsibly to her communities.
Mission
Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada enables girls to be confident,
resourceful and courageous, and to make a difference in the world.
Throughout our history, Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada
has always tried to prepare girls to meet the challenges that they face in their lives head on.
Whether it was Agnes Baden-Powell teaching girls to bandage wounds during World War I,
or today’s Unit Guider teaching girls to think critically about media images of young women,
Guiding has always been dedicated to helping girls be confident contributors to their communities.
While Guiding remains true to its ideals as a dynamic organization,
it is changing with the times to reflect the needs and interests of today’s girls and women.
Guiding is fun, bold, energetic, popular and real.
It empowers girls and women to face challenges with confidence.
Through Guiding’s various imaginative and innovative activity choices,
girls are empowered to reach their potential and to be independent,
confident and caring as they learn to develop decision-making and life skills.
Guiding gives girls opportunities during their formative years to experiment with various roles,
and develop skills and capabilities free from negative or stereotyped attitudes.
Guiding helps them connect with their community and with the wider world.
Girl Guides of Canada remains an all-female organization and creates opportunities for women
to take executive and leadership positions and thus provide role models for girls.
Our Adult Members are women who are supported and trained to provide mentorship
and act as role models. They encourage girls to speak up and be leaders in their communities
and schools. For women, Guiding is a chance to meet others and to make a difference.
Guiding also provides opportunities for international travel,
and scholarships for those pursuing post-secondary education.
Today’s women and girls are busy and selective in choosing their activities
because of the many options available to them.
Our program, through the various age groups, is well-rounded, flexible and diverse.
It empowers girls and women to face challenges with confidence.
